A Smartphone Designed For The Selfie Obsessed

Smart phones and Tablets

Imagine taking a selfie that has an image quality of 13 megapixels and has a dual (front facing) led flash. The folks at ASUS have done just that by creating the ZenFone Selfie. Even by today’s standards, that sounds farfetched but is plausible to say the least. Although the ZenFone Selfie may look good on paper, do we really need one? The ZenFone Selfie has a laser autofocus for its rear camera and call clarity and quality is top notch – which is a good thing because sometimes a smartphone is more than a device that takes selfies.  The phone is basically targeted towards young adults who are obsessed with taking the perfect selfies. Oppo has a similar phone in which the front camera can swivel back and forth, allowing users to take high-quality selfies. However, if taking selfies is your last priority, I suggest that you opt for other smart phones in the same category – as the ZenFone Selfie fails to perform in other areas. For those in the U.S, the ZenFone Selfie won’t be available to purchase, it is set to be released exclusively for the Asian market – Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand.

Price:

Even though you may not find it at your local best buy, you can certainly purchase it on eBay or Amazon once it’s officially launched. The price range will be approx $285.00, so it’s moderately affordable for most U.S based customers.

Design:

The phone has a 5.5 inch screen display at 1920X1080 full HD. It uses IPS LCD that puts out 403ppi. Overall, the phone weights around 5.9 ounces. In terms of the overall look of the phone, it’s fair to say that it looks similar to the ZenFone 2 – in fact, they look so similar that you would have think hard to spot the difference. The large camera lens in front of the camera seems weird, as the overall design seems unconventional – that is when you compare with standard smartphone designs.

Battery Life:

When it comes to software, there isn’t much to discuss, apart from the fact that the ZenFone Selfie comes with Android 5.0 lollipop and Asus Zen custom user-interface. It also has a guest-mode which is a quite unique feature for smart phones.
