How to hide my pictures and private images?

Folder Lock comes with a perfect combination of security tools, letting you encrypt your important files; back them up in real-time, and store them to any portable device. The program also lets you hide your files, folders and drives apart from locking them up securely. To run its Hide files feature, Folder Lock uses Windows Kernel-level locking mechanism to Hide and/or Lock your files and keeps your files protected even when someone tries to access them from Windows, DOS prompt, or in Safe Mode.

Enabling the Hiding and Locking feature in Folder Lock puts a blanket on them so that no one without the access rights can see them. In this way any file, folder, drive, or a program file (EXE) that you have hidden, will be instantly hidden and/or locked from access (depending on user settings) and is suitable for users who wish to have a simple yet powerful data protection mechanism without any encryption. Items that you lock, hide, or lock and hide remain that way even in Windows Safe Mode. Later, to unhide your files, you can simply go to 'Lock Files' feature and enter a correct locking password and your files are being shown to you.

Hiding and Locking your files, folders, drives, and programs with Folder Lock is a breeze, and the program has been developed so that all processes are run behind the scene with virtually zero hindrance to your computer activities.

Because the files, folders, drives, and program files that you Hide and lock in Folder Lock are both Hidden and Locked by default, the ability to simply hide your pictures and private images is based on your settings. In order to do this, simply run Folder Lock and go to the Lock Files module (see image below), where you have to use your Master Password to start protecting your files, folders and drives with Lock Files.

Once you have entered your password, you will see a main window showing a list of Locked files, which will be empty if you are accessing this feature for the very first time. Once you enter the Lock Files list window, you can start adding your pictures and private images to be hidden.

To hide your pictures and private images, simply click on the 'Add' button on the top menu, and select add your files, add folders, or add drives from the pull down menu. (see image below)

If your pictures and private images are many and if you wish to select individual files to be hidden, then click on 'Add File(s)' to open up the browser window. Just select your pictures and private images and press open to add them to the list. If your pictures and private images are many and kept in specific folders, then select 'Add Folder(s)' to add your folder(s) to the list. In case you wish to hide your pictures and private images that are kept in a drive, then click on the 'Add Drive(s)' option to add the drive(s) to the list.

You can also hide your pictures and private images by dragging them anywhere from your computer and dropping them into the program window. As soon as the selected items are dropped, it gets listed in the Locked items and the security setting of Locked and Hidden will both be applied to the items by default.

Folder Lock allows you to hide any of your pictures and private images even if kept inside Lockers. The only condition at play here is that you cannot add Locker files directly to the Lock Files list. The Lockers must be kept in folders or in the drive that wish to add to the list.

As soon as you have added the file(s), folder(s), or drive(s) to hide your pictures and private images to the Locking list, the security setting of Locked and Hidden will both be applied to the items by default. However, the drive(s) that you add to the Lock list WILL NOT be hidden.

In order to only hide your pictures and private images, go to the Locking and Encryption tab in the Settings panel. To do this, just click on the 'Settings' button placed above the top menu in Folder Lock. (see image below)

Once you click on the 'Settings' button as shown in the image above, go to the Locking and Encryption tab (see image below). Once there, in the field titled 'Lock Files Will Be:' deselect the Locked option and then press 'Apply' to confirm the changes made. One you have finished with the changes, click on 'OK' to exit the 'Settings' panel. Now your pictures and private images that have been added to the list will ALL be hidden from view.

Important

Note: on Hidden Files/Folders: Please remember that Hidden may still be visible to users through the Windows Run command as well as DOS.

Note on Hidden Drives: Please remember that, in the Hidden scenario, although your selected drives will get added to the 'Lock Files' list, your drives WILL NOT be hidden; the Protection ON/OFF function will also NOT work in this case.
