1. How to Password Protect Folders?

 

Folder Lock is a file locking and data encryption software to password protect files, folders, drives, USB drives, CDs, DVDs and notebooks. Follow these simple and easy steps to password protect folders and files:

 

  • • If you are using Folder Lock for the first time, click 'Create New Locker' and 'Set a New Password' Screen appears.

  • • Set and confirm a password for that locker. Make sure to set a strong password which is easy to remember but hard to guess. Password Meter will show you the strength of your password.

  • • Click 'OK'

  • • Folder Lock provides two different levels of protection for your files and folders.
  •  
  • 1. Encryption
  • 2. Locking
  •  
  • • Choose the level of protection by clicking the respective tab present on the upper side of the Folder Lock.
  •  
  • • To protect your data using locking feature, select 'Lock' tab.
  •  
  • • To add files, folders and drives to your locker, click 'Add Folder & Drives'. You can either 'drag and drop items' to your locker or use 'Add' button.

  • • Once you have done with the selection, click 'Lock Now'

  • • To finish, click 'Close to Protect'.

How to Disable Password Locking Protection?

 

If you wish to unlock a protected item, you need to log in to your locker, then select the item and click ‘Unlock’. You can also remove the check from the checkbox to unlock the protected item.

 

With Folder Lock, you can lock unlimited numbers of files and folders and maintain locking list very easily. Simply check or uncheck an item to lock or unlock it respectively. You can also remove an item from your locking list by clicking ‘Remove’ button.

 

To unlock all the items in the locking list click ‘Select All’ and then click ‘Unlock’ and if you wish to remove them from the locking list, click ‘Remove’. Kindly note removing an item from the locking list will automatically unlock it.

 

Locking list that you maintain is specific to your locker. Folder Lock is designed in such a way that it treats each Locker as a separate User. If you are unable to find an item that you have locked in a particular locker, it might be possible that you have locked it in different locker and now trying to access it through another.
