Folder Lock encrypts and locks your important files and folders to provide you with the most advanced and comprehensive data security solution available anywhere. The application comes with many privacy protection features. It does not restrict you to encryption only, but provides you with a quicker and an even easier way to protect your sensitive information by enabling you to 'Lock' your confidential data and personal information through a quick and easy data security mechanism of password protection.
'Locking' in Folder Lock refers to the process of protecting your files, folders, drives, and even programs by putting a protective lock on them. With the 'Lock' feature in place, any file, folder, drive, or a program file (EXE) that you have 'Locked', will be instantly Locked from access (depending on user settings). Locking is suitable for home-users who just want to password protect their family pictures, videos and personal letters so that they won't get deleted accidently.
Folder Lock offers an easy way to password protect as well as Folder Lock and folders through Context Menu allowing you to Lock files and folders rapidly without the need to run Folder Lock first. Follow the instructions below to Lock files and folders through Context Menu in Windows Explorer.
To start the Lock files and folders through Context Menu process, simply go to the item you wish to protect with the Lock feature and right-click on it. (see image below)

Folder Lock's context menu will appear giving you two options: (i)Lock and (ii) Unlock. Once you have selected the item(s) you wish to Lock and password protect, click on the Lock tab and you will be able to instantly Lock files and folders from the Context Menu in Windows Explorer. Right-clicking on files, folders or drives will show the Lock tab under Folder Lock in the Windows Context Menu (see image below).

When you click on the Lock tab, it will prompt a password window where you will have to enter your Master Password to Lock the item. After validating the Lock Files Password, the selected files/folders/drives will be added into the Lock Files list with the default security setting of Locked and Hidden.
When you click on the Unlock tab, it will prompt you for your Master Password to unlock the file, folder or drive you have already Locked with Folder Lock.
Please note that if the main Folder Lock application is running , you will not be able to to Lock files and folders through the Context Menu, upon selecting the item(s) you wish to protect with the Lock tab in the Context Menu will give you a message asking you to exit the application before using the context menu feature.
As soon as you have Locked files and folders through the Context Menu, your Locked items will get added to the Lock Files list and will be Locked. These Locked items will not no longer be accessible (i.e. Copying, Moving, and/or Deletion will not be allowed). The Locked security setting will also make ALL your Locked folders inaccessible, even when others can view them.
An important note to consider when Locking files and folders through the Context Menu is the addition of the Locker files (flka, flkb, flk), because even though you can add folder(s) containing Locker files (.flka, flkb, flk) to the Lock Files list, you CANNOT add Locker files directly to the Lock Files list. The same consideration must be kept in mind for all restricted files and folders, as well as files from shared folders, network mapped drives or any other network location.
When items get added to the Lock list, they will immediately be protected by the default Lock Files data security behavior where each item will be both Locked as well as Hidden.
