Folder Lock software offers security on two levels; Encryption and Locking. Encryption is a fast and a reliable method to hide information and also ensures the complete privacy of information. Folder Lock offers 256-bit AES Encryption which is used in United States Military. Encryption process guarantees the full integrity of information.
To make file and folder encryption fast and easier using Folder Lock, follow these steps:
- • Run the software.
- • Enter password either to create a new locker or to open an existing locker.
- • By clicking OK, Encrypt Screen will appear.
- • Now to add files and folders to your locker you wish to encrypt, click ‘Add Files and Folders’, here you can either drag and drop files and folders in the right pane or you can use ‘Add' button to add your files here.
- • Folder Lock offers you three different methods to transfer your files into your locker.
- 1. Move Data
- 2. Leave a Copy
- 3. Move after Shredding
- • To choose a method, go to Options > General Settings > Transfer Method option. Use ‘Move Data’ if you wish to transfer your files and folders to the Locker otherwise use ‘Leave a Copy’ if you wish to keep a copy at the original location. Furthermore, you can set the option shred (to always secure delete) your files. This can be done by choosing "Move after Shredding" from the General Settings.
- • When you are done adding files and folders in the Locker, click ‘Encrypt Now’, this will create an encrypted Locker and move / copy your selected files and folders in it.
- • Click ‘Close to Protect’ and all your data will be encrypted with strong 256-bit AES Encryption.
Folder Lock has another interesting feature which allows you to increase the size of the Locker in run-time, so that if you need to add more space, you can do so by using Edit Locker > Increase Locker Size option.
To manage your files better, click the Explore button on the panel on top of the encrypted content, which enables you to see your encrypted drive in Windows Explorer.
Now, whenever you want to access your encrypted files and folders, you will only need the locker path and the correct password. No one can access your files without the correct password.
